After
the trail cleanup was done it was noticed that new diamonds need to be put up
along the back trail because quite a few of the trees have fallen down. Whenever we decide to do this we will have to
be sure we take a ladder of some sort.
The
safety shelter is scheduled to be taken up on the mountain on October 13th.
A new area was designed at the campground as a new winter home for our shelter.
Fall Highway cleanup has been completed. The Safety Shelter
cleanup was scheduled for Oct 23 but has been postponed until we open the
Safety Shelter for the season.
After the purchase of the Otter sled through Cabelas
we still have money left on the gift card so we need to think of other items
that would benefit our Safety Shelter. Snow shoes were one idea that was
thought about.
The club has decided that our charitable donations this year
will be given to Cody Cupboard, Boys & Girls Club, Shriners,
West Park Hospice House, and the Holiday Helpers.
There was some discussion about the “curbing” of the snowmobile
season from Pilot Creek into Cooke City. This request is coming from Marty
Malone the Park County Montana commissioner. The club has decided that we are
not willing to give any on when the road will close and/open. We are going to
write a letter to our Park County commissioners and tell them that we thing the
road needs to be closed from Oct 15th thru May 10th.
Friends of the Beartooth Highway have applied for a TIGER grant
to continue with the construction on the improvement of the Beartooth Highway.
They have requested that the club write a letter of support. After some
discussion the club decided we would support this grant application.
The club still has 6 size medium sweatshirts from Fun Days last
year. If you are interested in purchasing one for $35 please contact one of
your club officers.
Our new ranger this year is Ryan Lineholt.
He wants to put together another Avalanche class some time
in January. We will get more information from him so that we can pass it on to
the rest of the club members. This will be a 2-day class. One day in the
classroom and one on the snow.
Our
next meeting will be on November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Search and Rescue
Hall. We will pizza.
