Cody Country Snowmobile Association

October Newsletter

President Bert Miller called the meeting to order.  We had 25 members in attendance. Thanks Carol Higbie for calling and reminding people to attend, it looks like it paid off this month.

We are going to try a couple of new things to try to get more people involved in our meetings as well as any other function that the club may have. First it has been decided that we will eat at the beginning of our meeting so that everyone isn’t starving by the time the meeting gets over, especially families with smaller children. We have also decided that for each meeting or club function members attend we will put your name into a hat. At the end of the season (probably at the chili feed) we will give away 3 prizes that pertain to snowmobiling. If we continue to get more people involved then we will probably have to move where we hold our meeting. We will know more after our next meeting. Along with the phone calls and email messages to remind members about meetings and functions we are also going to try sending text messages.

Now for some great news! The club has located a larger safety shelter to put on the mountain next year. The new trailer is about 13 feet longer a few inches wider. It also has a taller ceiling. Once we get the trailer brought to town we will put it in Marshall’s Auto Body yard and will work on it there for next year. We will be putting a committee together to help design how we want to setup the inside of the trailer. If you are interested in being on this committee please contact Mike Kelly (899-7342). Once we have a design then we will start working on the plan. Anybody and everybody is welcome to help.

WSSA had their fall meeting in Thermopolis at the beginning of October. WSSA will do raffle tickets again this year and split the sales with each local club. The raffle tickets will be $10 each or 6 for $50 and the prizes will be 1-$1000 Cabelas gift card, 1-$500, and 20 -$50 gift cards.  As soon as we get tickets from the state we will have them available to sell. Fun Days will be in Jackson at the Virginian Lodge on March 5th & 6th. The Jackson Snow Devils negotiated a rate of $53.10 + tax. Just mention you are with the WSSA when you make your reservations.

At our next meeting we will be deciding what charities to donate money to this year. Please bring your ideas with you to the next meeting.

Thanks to Tony & Angela Higbie for their generous donation for a new First-Aid kit for the warming hut.

Gene Kelly won $22 in the 50/50 raffle. He donated his winnings back to the club and requested all of the money be deposited into the Scholarship account. Remember you have to be present to win.

Our next meeting will be on November 4th  at 6:30 p.m. at the Search and Rescue Hall. We will have a pot-luck dinner again. Hope to see you there.
