March Newsletter
This
past month we had our Awards Dinner and Chili Feed. We had a great turn out for
both! We hope everyone had fun.
Congratulations
to the winners of our awards this year: Bryce Carroll – Snowmobiler of the
Year, Autumn Mitchell – Youth Snowmobiler of the Year, The Bert Miller family –
Snowmobile family of the Year, Sam Taylor – Groomer of the Year, both Mountain
Valley Motorsports & Roger’s Sport Center – Dealer of the year. The winner
of the “Seatbelt” award this year was Bryce Carroll you will have to ask him to
tell you the story of how he became a candidate this year.
We
also presented Bill Holder with a new award this year. He received the
Snowmobiler of the Decade award. This award is for
someone who is a member in good standing that has been a member for 10 or more
years and that has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Have
you ever gone to the Pig Roast in Cooke City? Well, it is scheduled for March 19th
this year.
The
Forest Service resumed their meetings this month as well. They will be working
off of the 1982 planning rule, they are not going to cover specific travel
management like road/roadless areas but they will be covering
motorized/non-motorized as a whole. They are trying to have a preliminary draft
in early May. They are also hoping to have their next meetings in May as well.
Remember
if you are going to put in for the CCSA Scholarship the deadline is March 11th.
The
club worked really hard to put on Fun Days. We had clubs attend from all over
the state which totaled 109 people. Even though the visibility on the mountain
wasn’t the best I think everyone still had fun. According to the Forest Service
there were 58 vehicles parked along the road and that was before everyone got
there. Isn’t that great? We raised money for the scholarships, Wyoming Cares,
Access Wyoming, and the March of Dimes “Team Talan”. For those of you that
attended we hope that all of you had fun. Stay tuned for the next Wrangler for
more information and pictures.
Rob
Marshall won $27 in the 50/50 raffle. He donated his winnings back to the club
and requested that all of the money be put into the scholarship account.
Remember you have to be present to play.
Remember
the more you are involved with the club the more chances you have for receiving
one of three “Club Participation” awards at the end of the season.
Hope
to see you at our next meeting which is April 6th at 6:30 in the
basement of the Search and Rescue Hall.
We will have a carry-in dinner. This is the last meeting of the season
and we will have elections.
