February Newsletter

The next 6 weeks are going to be very busy for our club. First of all we will have our Awards Dinner on Friday February 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the Irma.  We will have Rib Steak and Chicken Tenders for the little kids. The deadline to sign up for the dinner is Monday February 14th.  If you haven’t already signed up and want to join us please call 587-4455 and leave a message.

Of course we are also gearing up for Fun Days. The early bird registration date is fast approaching. That date is this Thursday, February 10th. Currently we have 69 people signed up and we are hoping to have at least 100. If you have never been to Fun Days before it really is a lot of Fun. We will have a meet and greet on Friday evening. Breakfast Saturday morning and then we will head up the mountain for a fun day of riding and lunch. Then there is the banquet on Saturday evening which will include a silent auction as well as a live auction of a quilt and the infamous Schnapps bottle (used to raise money for the state scholarships). Then on Sunday we will have the state meeting.

There is only 1 month left to sell raffle tickets if you still have some to sell. At this time 160 out of 300 tickets have been turned back in. Remember the club gets ˝ of the money from the tickets that we sell. We have to turn in our tickets and money at Fun Days because we will draw the winners on Saturday evening at the banquet.

The Forest Service meetings start again this month. The meeting in Cody will be on February 28th at 6 p.m. in the basement of the Big Horn Federal building. We really need to have club members come to these meetings to show support for keeping our riding areas open.

The Friends of the Gallatin are hosting and Avalanche Field day on February 12th & 13th. There will ba a 5 hour lecture that starts at noon on Saturday in the Fire Hall in Cooke City. Then they will have an all day field day on Sunday. The cost is $50 and you can sign up on www.mtavalanche.org. They have a 15 person minimum and a 30 person maximum for this training.

Carol Higbie won $22.50 in the 50/50 raffle. She requested that the club portion be put into the scholarship account. Remember you have to be present to play.

Hope to see you at our next meeting which is March 2nd at 6:30 in the basement of the Search and Rescue Hall, we will have. It is always great to see new faces. Remember the more you are involved with the club the more chances you have for receiving one of three “Club Participation” awards at the end of the season.
