If you haven’t heard, the club won 1st prize for our float in the Christmas parade. Thanks to all of you who helped decorated and congratulations!! We also want to thank Webster Motors for the use of their shop so we could decorate inside, and thanks to Justin Kelly for the use of his truck plus M&K Custom Wood for the use of their trailer.
The Safety shelter has been opened up for the season and the 911 phone has been installed and tested. Bert talked to the Forest Service and until they get a ranger assigned to the Beartooth range they are going to leave the original bathrooms open this season.
Fun Days – All of our activities will be at the Holiday Inn. Registration forms have been emailed and mailed to all of the clubs. The registration form was also mailed to our club members, and should be in the next Wrangler as well.
At our next meeting we will have some avalanche beacon training. We are calling this training “Get to know your beacon”. We will eat and have a short meeting then do this training in the park. We would also like to do some training on the mountain in the future, we will update you when we have a date.
Mike Kelly also asked if there are any club members that would like to be added to a list of people that the Search and Rescue could contact in case they need help doing a search or recovery. If anyone is interested they can contact Mike on his cell at 899-7342.
Karla Kelly asked club members to send her pictures for the scrap book. Her email address is karlakelly50@hotmail.com.
On January 18th Mountain Valley will host an Avalanche Awareness Seminar put on by some folks out of the Gallatin National Forest. There will also be some sort of seminar at the college in Powell. We will notify members when we have more information.
Remember that Roger’s Sport Center is going to participate in our “Club Participation” awards again this year. The more club functions you attend the greater chance you have of winning one of three awards. This year they will be gift cards from Roger’s Sport Center. ($250, $150 or $100)
Zach Hart won $20 in the 50/50 raffle, this is another one of those “you have to be present to play” things we have at our meetings.
Our next meeting will be on January 5th at 6:30 p.m. at the Search and Rescue Hall. We will have Carry-In. Hope to see you there, it is great to see new faces at our meetings.
